Developed on the site of a pre-existing church, PCA Senior Residence was built by HANAC, who received $22 million in funds from the multiple city and federal agencies. Goshow Architects worked with HANAC and its finance partners to develop a design for the 82,500 SF building that provides affordable housing for community seniors, as well as space for HANAC’s community service programs.

Goshow Architects salvaged and reinstalled the church’s entry doorways, portico entablature, and historic woodwork within the new construction. Although the existing building was not a landmark, reuse of the handsome classic façade and interior elements preserves the church’s history and reflects its relationship to the local community.

Prefabricated bathroom modules, which were delivered virtually complete on site helped ease construction and coordination for all structural, mechanical, and plumbing work, completed in 2012.
