The 175,000 sq. ft. Nobel Halls Student Residence consists of 104 suite-style apartments with common areas including lounges, small kitchens and laundry rooms located on the ground floor. Living rooms are situated in the corners of the building to bring in natural light to each suite.
Connected to the residential building is the Center for Global Studies and Human Development and Activity Center. This space accommodates the College Advisors and Faculty Directors’ offices, several seminar classrooms and a 350-person multipurpose hall. A café/lounge and informal seating areas, which can open to the outdoors, act as a social hub for students and teachers alike.
Certified LEED Gold, Nobel Halls incorporates multiple sustainable design strategies. From a highly insulated exterior envelope clad in insulated metal panels to the use of rapidly renewable and low VOC interior materials. It was the first LEED Certified on-campus housing for Stony Brook University.
